From 24 September 2014 to 31 December 2018 – Regional Health Council, Sicily Region. Regional Coordinator of the “Regional Contingency Health Plan for Migrants”; the Plan of Contingency, realized in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health, incorporated by Frontex on a European scale, sets as its governance objective, to ensure an efficient and coordinated management of health and other resources at all landing points in the Region of Sicily. (Regional Council Decrees nr. 1500 of 24/09/2014 and nr. 1346 of 06/06/2017).       

From 2 February 2017 to 30 November 2017 Regional Health Council, Sicily Region. Cabinet Office, Technical Secretariat. Coordinator of the “Permanent Table on Health Issues involving Islamic communities in Sicily”;

Technical support and monitoring of the RE-HEALTH Project, Health and Migration Division of the OIM Regional Office in Brussels. A European Commission funded Project – Directorate General for Health and Consumers (DG SANTE), through a direct agreement (Grant Agreement) with the Executive Agency CHAFEA (Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency) as part of the European Health Programme 2014 2020. Support and monitoring were carried out on the following points: Temporary Advisor for WHO (World Health Organization), Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being European Office for lnvestment for Health and Development – WHO Regional Office for Europe:

  • Regional Coordinator of the Project “Knowledge Hub on Health and Migration;
  • Focal Point “summer school” on refugee and migrant health;

Speaker at the conference: “International Humanitarian Action, Between East & West” held in Doha, Qatar .

From 01 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 Regional Department of Health Consultant for the Regional Councillor for Health – Region of Sicily regarding Health Immigration Policies.

Direct collaboration with the Councillor for Health, regarding relations with national and foreign institutions, Ngos and the private social networks, as facilitator of integration and transmission of health information, with the aim of defining the status of foreign population in the Sicilian Region. 

Technical support for project 71275/SH- CAPAC co-funded by the Health Program of the European Union. The support action was carried out on behalf of the Sicilian Region, Regional Health Department (the only member state representative).

Temporary Advisor for WHO (World Health Organization), Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-Being, European Office for Investment for Health and Development, WHO Regional Office for Europe.  

Member of the assessment working group in Ukraine, Severodonetks district; the objective was to gather information through interviews to the population displaced after the war, on access to health services with particular reference to vaccination. The final report was delivered to the WHO office in Kiev.

Regional Coordinator of the “Memorandum of Understanding for the Governance of Health Immigration Policies in the Region of Sicily”, implemented by Council Decree nr. 728 of 08/05/2014, undersigned between Regional Helath Council, Italian Red Cross, Emergency and Doctors Without Borders.

Temporary Advisor for WHO (World Health Organization), Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being, European Office for Investment for Health and Development, WHO Regional Office for Europe: Member of the Working Team for Assessment at Ciudad Autonoma de Melillia, under the supervision of the Ministerio de Sanidad Madrid, for an assessment of the impact of migratory flows from North Africa on the Spanish Health System. Main objective: the management of potential  highly diffusive infectious diseases.

Regional Health Department, Delegate for the Conference “High Level Meeting On Refugee and Migrant Health”, held in Rome at the Ministry of Health on 23-24 November 2015.

Speaker at the Conference “Health in the Mediterranean”, Ministry of Health Conference Centre, held in Rome on 27-28 October 2014, on the occasion of the semester of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Speaker at the seminar “Migration Laboratory, a Public Heath Perspective” organized by the Ca’ Foscari Summer School in Venice, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, held on June 10, 2014.

From 01 January 2013 to 31 December 2013 – Regional Department of Health Consultant for the Regional Councillor for Health, Region of Sicily on Immigration Health and Social Policy.

Technical support, with specific task as Regional Focal Point for the Project EQUI-HEALTH, co-financed under the 2012 Work Plan, within the Second Programme of Community Action in the field of Health (2008-2013), awarded with a direct grant to 10M from the European Commission’s Directorate for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE).

Monitoring of Migratory flows and the impact on the Regional Health System;

Activities of analysis and development of Health and Integration programs for the populations of non-Italian citizens present in the Sicilian Provinces.

Performance analysis of counselling services for women victims of trafficking.

Analysis of the figure of the cultural mediator and the linguistic interpreter within the assistance programs aimed at migrants.
